“The founder of Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN), Jeff Bezos, is expanding his real estate portfolio by acquiring a mansion in South Florida located in the famous ‘Billionaire Bunker,’ just a few months after purchasing the neighboring house.

According to well-informed sources, Jeff Bezos, who ranks third on the list of the world’s richest people, has agreed to pay the sum of $79 million for a seven-bedroom residence located on Indian Creek, an artificial island in the Miami area. This represents a 7.1% discount from the May list price of $85 million.

So far, Jeff Bezos’ representative has refrained from making statements about the acquisition. The transaction was facilitated by Dina Goldentayer and Danilo Tavares of Douglas Elliman, who have also chosen not to comment.

Prior to this acquisition, in June, Bezos purchased the neighboring property for a total of $68 million. With this latest purchase, he now owns a property of approximately 0.7 hectares (7,000 square meters) built in 2000, which was last sold for $28 million in 2014.

There is speculation that the 59-year-old Bezos may make more purchases in the area, but this has not been confirmed. Indian Creek, located in Biscayne Bay and about 8 miles (13 kilometers) from South Beach, is known as the ‘Billionaire Bunker’ because it is home to personalities such as investor Carl Icahn, football star Tom Brady, singer Julio Iglesias, Jared Kushner, and Ivanka Trump.

In addition to his properties in Indian Creek, Bezos also owns homes in Washington, a 9-acre mansion (36,421.7 square meters) in Beverly Hills that he acquired for $165 million in 2020, and a property in Maui. His investment in luxury real estate has increased since stepping down as CEO of Amazon in 2021 and his divorce from MacKenzie Scott. Bezos is the owner of one of the world’s most expensive yachts, the Koru, which cost approximately $500 million to build.

The recent purchase in Indian Creek spans approximately 19,000 square feet (1,770 square meters) and includes amenities such as a pool, a theater, a library, and a wine cellar. The property is designed with a style that exudes timeless European glamour.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Jeff Bezos has a fortune close to $156 billion, making him one of the wealthiest homeowners in the state. Indian Creek has around 40 residences, a country club, and its own police force.”
